Don Dessert Consultants is also working on developing a 1/9th scale (radio control)
version of the SR-71, (shown above) to include a pair of turbines. Also under
development is a 1/6th scale X-29,
a 1/6th scale YF-23, and
a 1/8th scale Starship
2000.
The SR-71's at 40 years old is still the fastest and highest production aircraft ever built. Using simple tools, solid engineering and thinking outside the box, the Skunk Works team built an aircraft that is still ahead of its time. Other aircraft have flown higher and faster, but were not production aircraft.
